In ihrer künstlerischen Praxis untersucht Stephanie Imbeau, wie Individuen zu einer
Gemeinschaft zusammenfinden, wie wir im Kollektiv ein Gefühl persönlicher Sicherheit suchen, einen Ort des Geborgenseins. Zur Erforschung dieses universellen menschlichen Bedürfnisses greift sie zurück auf Darstellungen baulicher Elemente, die im Kontext ihrer Arbeit als Anthropomorphismen zu werten sind. Die
basalen Formen, die sie verwendet und deren Schutzfunktion immer schon evident
ist, geben dabei den Rahmen ab für eine Kartierung persönlicher Grenzziehungen:
die physischen Räume, in denen wir Sicherheit und Sinn finden. Der simple Umriss eines Hauses etwa ist sowohl Begrenzung nach außen als auch ein in den Raum hinein getragener innerer Anspruch: „Ich bin hier!“
