The Office for Art in Public Spaces, KiöR (kulturwerk of the bbk berlin) participated in the hearing on the significance of art in architecture and art in urban spaces held at the House of Representatives on Monday, March 16, presenting a statement. Katinka Theis and Martin Schönfeld presented the office’s work and emphasized its relevance for artists and urban society.

On Monday morning, spokespersons for bbk berlin highlight the far-reaching consequences of the cuts and emphasize what is at stake in the long term: fair working conditions, secure spaces, and genuine participation for visual artists.

The integration of the paper workshop into the print workshop broadens the spectrum of artistic techniques and professional opportunities available. Politically advocated for and promoted since 2024, the project was implemented by the Senate at the last minute before the end of 2025, in close cooperation with the management of bbk berlin, Wibke Behrens, and the workshop.

For bbk berlin and its subsidiaries kulturwerk and bildungswerk, 2025 was a year like no other. We take a look back at the achievements, structures, and prospects.

In 2025, the 'bbk berlin bildungswerk' held a total of 161 events as part of its in-person seminars and workshops, the Digital Campus, and the Strategic Autumn program, in which 1,360 visual artists participated.
