No one wins (Time-out)
Entwined basketball hoops, backboards
105 x 120 x 85 cm.
2012
Ephemerally installed in public space, this project consisted of a manipulated basketball basket containing two entwined hoops; and it was available for passers-by to NOT-play. The idea of working with this specific subject and format came from a need to create a collective experience: a play where no one wins.
At the time this project was realised, a large series of protests against budget cuts in culture and other sectors of society had started in Spain. We wanted to position ourselves to this situation through a symbol. The consequences of those cuts may be hardly visible on the short term, but could lead to a permanent time-out situation in the future, where the play just stands frozen.
