Exhibition opportunities

Art associations
Art associations play an important role for the presentation of contemporary art, especially the Neue Berliner Kunstverein - n.b.k. (www.nbk.org), the Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst – ngbk (www.ngbk.de) and the KW – Institut for contemporary art e.V. (www.kw-berlin.de).

Communal galleries
On district level community galleries are important places for displaying art (www.bbk-berlin.de  and kgberlin.net). Focus and tasks of the galleries are different in each district. Each Gallery has its own profil and emphasis.

Project Spaces
Besides, so-called project spaces or off-spaces are significant for the presentation of contemporary art.  A list of these spaces can be found on the web page of Netzwerk freier Projekträume und –initiativen (www.projektraeume-berlin.net). This Spaces work not market orientated, meaning that they do not focuse on the commercialization of art. In addition, in 2014 the Project Space festival (www.projectspacefestival-berlin.com) was established.

Galleries
There are more than 400 professional galleries in Berlin. An overview is given by the Landesverband Berliner Galerien e.V. (www.berliner-galerien.de) or the art magazine ‚index – Zeitgenössische Kunst in Berlin’ (www.indexberlin.de). Important events in that context are the Berlin Art Week in September (www.berlinartweek.de) and the Gallery Weekend Berlin im May (www.gallery-weekend-berlin.de).
