Kunst-am-Bau-Wettbewerb Humboldt Forum — zeitgenössische Fassade am Nordgiebel

The Humboldt Forum embodies a German-centric vision of cultural memory: colonial violence, aesthetic domination, and imperial possession are revived through neoclassical form. This intervention challenges that symbolic logic. It points not only toward what is inside the museum, but toward what remains structurally sealed: perspectives of color, diaspora, restitution, and refusal.
At a time when democratic societies of the Global North are under increasing pressure, the work serves as a civic reminder: that cultural spaces must never be sealed off, and that dialogue must never be locked away or shut down; the lock remains open — on principle. Its presence is infrastructural. It operates through quiet contrast, semantic inversion, and symbolic weight. The façade is treated not as (sur)face, but as historical interface and platform for discourse.
