Alona Rodeh is a visual artist, scenographer, and urban practitioner based in Berlin. Holding an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, her cross-disciplinary practices are rooted in the perception of the nocturnal built environment. She is known for creating large immersive environments incorporating light and sound and also publishes research-driven artist magazines, practices night walking, directs short films, and more. With an emphasis on public space and audiences, she has shown works extensively inside and outside institutions and museums, with large works and solo presentations in places such as CCA Tel Aviv, La Casa Encendida Madrid, Museum Marta Herford, Kunstpalais Erlangen, Salzburger Kunstverein, PlugIn ICA Winnipeg, Tel Aviv Museum, and others; She installed temporary and permanent artworks in public spaces in Berlin, Tel Aviv, and elsewhere; Residencies include, among others, a year-long residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; ISCP NYC, and another year-long residency at the Berlin Fire Brigade. She won numerous prizes and grants, among others, the Young Artist Prize from the Israeli Ministry of Culture; She teaches at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and advocates for Dark Sky International, an NGO raising awareness of sky glow and other forms of light pollution.
