Rumours of Noise - lecture #4
The fourth Rumours of Noise event was quickly sold out in advance; whether this was due to the announced live performance or the theme, which was certainly topical, asking whether radical drone and noise music could possibly serve as relaxation, even as ambient soundtrack for meditation purposes. Achieving or regaining serenity is a lofty goal in the global crisis and war year of 2025.
On a groundbreaking CD release by drone pioneers Earth (‘Earth 2 - special low frequency version’), the back cover features a number of statements from buyers, e.g. "I feel alert yet very calm ... Wonderful after a hard day."
Regardless of whether this statement is meant seriously or ironically, and whether it is true or just a fake: judging by the positive reactions, it seems to have worked for the people who were present as an audience in the boiler house of the media workshop on 17 September 2025.
Special event: a live-act with Werner Durand, Berlin drone pioneer from the very beginning, sound artist and gong player Ira Hadžić, as well as Manfred Miersch on theremin and modular drone bank.
