„Media and Music Talks“ lecture #2 Rumours of Noise
Rumours of Noise" - planned as a series within the framework of Media and Music Talks - is dedicated to a special aspect of contemporary music: working with noises, radical soundscapes and drones, which only came to the attention of a larger number of interested people in the course of a slow expansion of traditional concepts of music and art. Here there are still surprising musical discoveries and exciting, ever more differentiated genre ramifications, often embedded in a creative context that exhibits the characteristics of complete artwork and ideological utopia.
The media workshop of the kulturwerk des bbk berlin is the place where new perspectives on well-known media genres can be examined and interdisciplinary ideas can be further developed.
Frauke Boggasch and Manfred Miersch invite you to a new episode of the series on December 12, 2024.
This time, the focus is on an in-depth exploration of the topic of "drone" and its precursors, away from the musical mainstream. An excursion into the musical stylistic device known since the second half of the 1960s as "free form freak-out" leads to more contemporary variations of noise and drone, such as drone doom and female voice noise.
